Bill Blake Obituary
Bill was born in Porum, Oklahoma. One of nine children, his parents brought the family west to California during the Great Depression. Times were hard and they found a temporary home at the Sunset Camp between Arvin and Lamont. Bill was an honest, good hearted, hard-working, family man. He met and married the love of his life and best friend Bernice with whom they had three children, Deborah, Doug and Amanda. In his youth he worked in the fruit, picked cotton and "swamped spuds". Later, he spent 44 years in the drywall business.
Always ready to go and early to arrive, this was Bill's way. He loved country music and made it clear that George Jones was his favorite. Bill spent his time with family and friends attending Annual Blake Reunions, Dust Bowl Days, trips to Vegas and numerous vacations to Pismo Beach.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Bernice and daughter, Deborah. Parents, Elbert and Zona Blake, brothers: Nelson, Elton, Harold Tommy and Ira Blake. Sisters, Rosalie Koch and Louise Watson.
