Billie Ted Levy passed away on February 2, 2016 in Bakersfield, California, at age 69.
Ted was born in 1946 and spent his life in Bakersfield. He attended local schools and received an AS degree from Bakersfield College. He had a rewarding career both as a law clerk and bookkeeper. He enjoyed an early retirement and was an avid reader, excelling in history. He enjoyed taking road trips and was especially fond of Tombstone, Arizona, and seeing the historical sights of the old west.
Ted was a Vietnam veteran who served his country proudly in the US Army. He liked to tell stories of being stationed in Alaska and seeing the Northern Lights.
Ted exhibited extraordinary compassion and willingness to help others. He was always the first to offer assistance to any neighbor, friend, or family member in need. He was a member of the HELPS medical mission team and traveled with them to Guatemala in 2001 and 2002. Ted appreciated the opportunity to explore new places and cultures and exhibited unbiased acceptance of people and situations. He also had a soft heart for animals, especially cats, and touched many lives with his sense of humor and honest reflections on life.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Cecelia, daughter, Rebecca Levy and her partner Diane Schuetz, sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jim Camenisch, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
