Blanche Golay

Blanche Golay Obituary
Mom, 96, was born in Kelly, Iowa to parents that had emigrated from Stavanger, Norway. She was the sixth of eight children and she was the last surviving child of Severin and Boletta Nagel.
When starting school, English was to become her
second language. She rode to school in a horse
drawn school bus.
She married Richard Golay in 1937 and farmed
corn and beans in Iowa. They had four girls and
eventually moved to Bakersfield at Christmas in
1952. That year they joined St. Marks Methodist
Church. Richard started farming cotton and alfalfa
on the west side of Bakersfield. Mom developed a
love for music and enjoyed being a homemaker.
She loved sewing and crocheting and making
afgans for family, friends and church fund raisers.
Blanche went to work at Memorial Hospital and retired from there 23 years later. Blanche loved raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved her church and the friendships she developed there.
She is survived by her daughters Betty(Jim House), Janet(Ed Tyner), and Mary (Fred Beard). She is also survived by her grandchildren Angela, Mark, Joy, Jason Tyner, Lisa Walker and Rich Mebane. Great grandchildren, Spencer, Britni, Logan and Brandon. She was preceded in death by her her husband Richard and oldest daughter Shirley (Bill Purifoy).
The family wishes to thank Lisa Walker (grandchild), whom she called her special Angel, who cared for her the last years of her life.
Blanche is now resting with her Lord. We will always cherish her loving memories until our final days, then we shall meet again.
