1937 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Bob Kandarian Obituary
Bob Kandarian February 13, 1937 - September 5, 2012 Bob Kandarian was born in Fowler, CA, on February 13, 1937, to Henry and Isabel Kandarian. The family moved to Taft, CA, where his father owned Robert's Market. He attended grammar school in Taft until moving to Bakersfield in junior high school. He graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1955 and received his A.A. from Bakersfield Junior College. Bob proudly served in the Air Force and was discharged with the rank of A1C E-4. He received the Air Force Longevity Service Award and the Good Conduct Medal in 1956 and 1959. He was fully qualified as an Aircraft Electronic Navigations Equipment Repairman. It was this training that brought him into the electronics field. Bob worked for Kiesub Corporation until he opened Kandarian Electronics in 1981, working at his beloved store continuously until his illness finally forced him to retire at age 75. Bob loved music and ballroom dancing. He served as the music chairman for the Bakersfield Smooth Dancers for many years and spent hundreds of hours searching for the best in ballroom music for the enjoyment of his dancing family. He loved searching out new music that would fill the dance floor with Smooth Dancers. Many special friendships were formed during his dancing years, and he and his wife, Karen, traveled around the world with their dancing buddies. Thank you to the many Smooth Dancers up and down the state who remembered him often with cards, calls, and visits. Thanks go out to Bob's faithful customers who supported him throughout his 31 years and to those special ones who were there for him throughout his illness and the final closing of Kandarian Electronics on July 31. Our deepest gratitude goes out to Jim Eastes and Danny McElwrath, who came when they were most needed, and to Tony, Wayne, and Adam, faithful customers and friends. Bob said so many, many times, "Where do men like this come from?" Your outpouring of love and respect for this quiet gentleman will be remembered always. We are so grateful. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen; his daughters, Kim Ince (Curt), Kris Cameron (Dennis); four grandchildren, Joshua Ince, 21, Haley Cameron, 20, Justin Cameron, 17, Jordan Ince, 16; and his first great grandchild, Nazeli Rose, 6 months A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 9, at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd., from 4-7 p.m., with services held on Monday, September 10, at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to any charitable organization that you feel makes a difference in the lives of others.
