Bonnie Jean Lisenbee Christie died at home in Bakersfield on June 13, 2016. She was born in Bakersfield on December 27, 1943. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from UCLA and a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southern California. Following a successful career with the Environmental Monitoring Division of Kern County, she retired in 2011.
Bonnie was predeceased by her parents; LJ and Jane Swauger Lisenbee, and brothers Donald and Kenneth. She is survived by nephew Donald Lisenbee of Williamsburg, VA, and nieces Cindy Lisenbee Molitor of Arlington, VA, Pamela Lisenbee Dangelo of Winston-Salem, NC and Amy Lisenbee Lee of Bakersfield, as well as stepsons Jared Christie of Minneapolis, MN, Joel Christie of Bakersfield and stepdaughter Jody Christie of Austin, TX.
Bonnie was an avid golfer and loyal Dodgers fan. She enjoyed music and traveling. Most of all, she was a devoted aunt, stepmother and friend whose infectious smile, humor, quick wit and generous soul will be missed by all who knew her.
The family acknowledges Bonnie's wonderful friends, especially Maria Mesmer, Judy Anderson and Gaby Kidwell for their invaluable help and loving care during Bonnie's last months.
A memorial service will be held at Greenlawn River Boulevard at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17th. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bonnie's name to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
