Boyd R. Hill 1935 - 2013 Boyd R. Hill passed away on March 10, 2013, at the age of 77 in Bakersfield, CA, with his family by his side. Boyd was born December 7, 1935, to parents Don and Nancy in Enid, OK. Boyd was one of six children. They eventually settled in Bakersfield, CA, in 1937. Boyd attended Beardsley Elementary and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1954. Boyd worked as a field agent studying encephalitis for the University of California Berkeley for 35 years. He continued in this field of work for 10 more years with the County of Kern until he eventually retired in 2001. Boyd loved his work and those whom he had the opportunity to work with. His passion for his work can be seen in publications that have documented his many efforts. Boyd enjoyed many things about life; most importantly were his friends and family, traveling the world, and his love of tennis. Spending time with his family and friends was of upmost importance, and if you had the opportunity to meet Boyd, you knew how much he loved just being around people. It was these opportunities to be around others that enriched his life. It was Boyd's compassion, sense of humor, dedication, and humility that will be missed, but not forgotten. Boyd is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary. They were married in Bakersfield on June 9, 1973. Boyd is lovingly remembered by children, Jill Sanders and Barry Hill; son in-law, Robert Sanders; daughter in-law, Eashell Hill; and grandchildren, Kyle, Kolbey, Savanah, Surenity, and Brooklynn. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane. A reception will take place at the home of Jill and Robert Sanders, 10803 Gainsborough Court, Bakersfield, CA 93312, following the memorial service.
