Bruce Campbell March 30, 1953 - August 5, 2013 Long-time Kern County resident, former Elk Hills auditor and former movie extra Bruce Edmund Campbell passed away on August 5th, 2013 at his home in Bakersfield. He was 60. He had been suffering from numerous health problems in recent years. Bruce was born on March 30, 1953, in Petaluma, CA to Dean and Lucille Campbell, the second of four children. The family later moved to Taft where Bruce attended local Taft schools and graduated from Taft High School in 1971. Bruce attended California State University, Chico, where he majored in accounting. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity where he made life-long friends. After college, Bruce went to work for Giumarra Vineyards and eventually Bechtel Corp. at Elk Hills Naval Petroleum Reserve where he worked as an auditor for more than a decade. During that time, he earned a master's degree from Fresno Pacific University. After his time at Elk Hills, Bruce moved to Los Angeles and worked as a movie extra for several years, piling up enough hours to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild. He had many adventures in Hollywood and worked on movies such as "Fight Club", "Gone in 60 Seconds", and "Enemy of the State" and television shows such as "Ally McBeal" and "The X-Files" when it was still shot in California. He was cast as the "handsome man" in a scene in "Scream 3". Bruce later returned to the Bay Area and worked for Amtrak and then the IRS. He returned to Bakersfield in 2006.Bruce loved to travel and his spirit of adventure took him to countries such as Kenya, Turkey, Thailand and Cambodia, among other exotic locations. He is proceeded in death by his father Dean Campbell and is survived by his mother, Lucille Campbell of Bakersfield; his sister and brother-in-law Cindy and Dennis Brack of Alexandria, VA; his brother and sister-in-law Mark and Charlotte Campbell and nephew Grant Campbell of Bakersfield; and his brother Greg Campbell of Alexandria, VA. A memorial reception will be held in honor of Bruce on Monday, August 12th, 2013 at Wool Growers Restaurant at 12:00PM, located at 620 East 19th St., Bakersfield, CA.
