Calvin Barton Fields Obituary
Calvin Barton Fields passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home on Friday August 8, 2014 after a brief decline in health. Cal was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1939 but spent the majority of his life here in Bakersfield working 38 years as a cook at Kern Medical Center and raising a wonderful family of his own. Calvin honorably served his county in the Navy for four years.
After retirement 18 years ago he had taken pride in tending to his yard and flower beds, attending many little league sports events for the great grand-kids and spoiling his two little dogs Dixie and Gizmo.
"Pop" was preceded in death by both his parents, Calvin and Carrie Fields; along with his siblings, Lenora, Hazel, Helen and R.E. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Ann; his son, Calvin Keith (wife Jennifer); and daughter, Carol Christine (husband Sterling); five grandchildren, Amanda, Monica, Buddy, Michael, and Kenneth; seven great grandchildren; and many others who came to know and love him.
