Carmen Enriquez Barraza Obituary
Mom (Nana), you went home to be with the Lord peacefully. You have gained new legs, new wings and became pain free on October 18, 2014 with your children by your side.
Carmen was born on September 20, 1930 in Rotan, Texas. She was raised in San Angelo, Texas, eventually moving to Bakersfield, California. Shortly after, she met and the love of her life, Lupe Barraza. They were married 54 years and raised eight loving children.
Early in life, she enjoyed bowling at Freddies "Top of the Hill". Later on in life she loved watching "Dancing with the Stars", and would often say how much she enjoyed dancing when she was younger. And she never missed an episode of General Hospital. She enjoyed attending Sunday services at "In Jesus Name Ministries" and proudly listened to her son, John, preach the word. She will be remembered for her caring spirit and was loved by everyone she met, most people remembered her simply, as "Nana". She saw no fault in anyone and always saw the best in them. She would listen to all our complaints and simply say "Ayye ye".
Mom was the last to pass of her siblings. Carmen is preceded in death by her husband Lupe Barraza, her parents Pedro and Ysabel Enriquez and sisters Betty, Otila, Joann and brothers Santos, Jimmy, Rudy, Pete, Andy, Benny and Johnny.
She is survived by her daughter's and son's Yvonne Placencia and Mark Herrera, Barbara Rivas, Betty and Rick Fernandez, Manuel and Patricia Barraza, Anita Barraza, Christine and Michael King, Patricia and Frank Bates, John and Leticia (Lettie) Barraza, all of Bakersfield; grandchildren: Eliot and Jennifer Henderson, Manuel and Erica Barraza, Rene August and Art Tijerina, Anthony Barraza, Michelle and Stephanie King-Rocha, Ricky Fernandez, Tiffany and Richard Verkaaik, Michael and Christopher King and Trinity Barraza; great-grandchildren: Nathan August, Bailey Henderson, Patrick and Aidan Ross, Brady and Brandon Barraza, Jocelyn and Joshua King-Rocha, and Rachel King; step-grandchildren: Cecilia and Kyle Carter, Stephanie Alderete and Manuel Gomez, Denise and Cinque Garris, and Niecyana and A.J. Tijerina; step-great-grandchildren: Austin and Aaron Carter, Johnny Maese, and Isaiah Bejarano.
A special thank you to our sister Anita Barraza for providing the joy, laughter and care our mother needed. Thanks to Hoffmann Hospice ladies that made our mother's days a whole lot brighter.
Carmen will be missed dearly by all her loving family and friends.
