Carolyn Kay Creek Obituary
Carolyn Kay Creek born July 17th 1944 - passed from this world to watch over her family and loved ones on December 10th 2015, after an extended battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born in Bakersfield July, 17th 1944, fourth of six children born to Carl and Lettie Harvey including two brothers, Donald and Larry, older sister Phyllis, and two younger sisters Linda and Barbara Ann.
Carolyn attended Beardsley Elementary and Jr. High, where she excelled in sports, focusing her athleticism into the role of majorette for the band. Carolyn later attended North High School, participating in sports, breaking the school record for the women's baseball toss, later graduating with the class of 1962.
Carolyn married her one and only husband of 53 years, Gary Creek, the day after High School graduation, June 9th, 1962. Their life together and shared journey started in Northern California, later taking them through multiple states including Montana, Arizona and finally back to California, first in Los Angeles then back to Bakersfield which became their permanent home in 1975.
Before their first child was born, Carolyn worked for AT&T through various roles, including long distance operator and toll operations. Later, after her children were a little older, she picked up where she left off with AT&T, working through the divestiture, bridging her earlier employment, retiring from the plant services center in 2000.
Carolyn's first love, and greatest joy, was her family. Her first child, Tyler was born in 1968, and second child Stacey was born in 1976. Throughout their childhoods, Carolyn devoted her time to their upbringing. Carolyn's deep and abiding love, for her own children and her nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews was all encompassing. Nothing gave her greater joy than sharing who she was, her love, compassion and enthusiasm for life, with her family.
Throughout her life, Carolyn enjoyed gardening, the variations of life in all its forms and the bounty that God has given to us. Carolyn, through her love of family and her participation in the lives of those who were fortunate to have shared the journey with her demonstrated to all that love is first and foremost action by giving of who she was freely and without reservation to all who were willing to receive.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Gary, her children Tyler and Stacey, her brother Larry and sisters....and numerous nieces and nephews. On behalf of her family, we would like to thank God, and thank all of those who have shared in Carolyn's life. She was a unique and remarkable woman who will be deeply missed by all of us. God bless you Carolyn for being part of our lives.
