Carolyn Peper Obituary
Early morning April 2nd, after 99 years on this earth Carolyn "Tutu" Peper went to join her husband "Sweet William", daughter Linda, son Jimmy, and numerous loved ones on the next adventure with the Lord.
Carloyn was born at home on the family farm in Oakland, Iowa on May 8, 1914, to William Saul Tipton and Mary Jane Clemmer. She liked to tell that while the doctor was delivering her, Daddy was delivering a colt in the barn. This farm is where her love of animals and her nurturing spirit were born. She stayed on the farm throughout her childhood with her older siblings, Dean and Lois. Unfortunately her mother passed during the flu epidemic of 1918, which had a lasting effect on her life, she was only 4. Her father never remarried. She was so proud that her father chose to take care of them and not remarry.
Carloyn's school years were spent in a one-room school house, then on to high school at St. Angela Academy for girl. Her love of medicine would lead her to the University of Nebraska Nursing School in Lincoln where she received her RN in 1935.
The next chapter in her life sent her to South Gate, CA. She accepted a job at Suburban Hospital, during this time she met her first husband, Lynn Reed. In 1938 they moved to Bakersfield, CA and married. She spent the next 20 years working as a nurse at Manor Medical, and raising three beautiful children; Linda, Jimmy, and Dean. Lynn would pass away in 1959.
Her final chapters would find her life full of "Pure Happiness and Joy" as she put it. Carolyn met and married William Herman Peper in 1966. They would travel the world together exploring the four corners of the earth. Some of her favorite places were Turkey, Japan, and Newfoundland. Carloyn loved the lord and would find a Lutheran Church in every town they moved to, she would make it her home and the people her family. The longest stay was in Honolulu, HI, she would spend 17 years there. Carolyn enjoyed quilting, x-stitching, gardening and making beautiful hand blown-egg decorations in her spare time.
During her final years, after death of her husband Bill, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite things were, Church, Sunday football, Pupus (appetizers), Sunday dinner and a good Scotch and water!
It is always tea-time somewhere, so raise a glass to Tutu.
