CHARLES ANTHONY "TONY" CASH Obituary
Charles Anthony "Tony" Cash, born on January 28, 1957 in Taft, California went home to our Lord and Savior on September 21, 2015 in Bakersfield surrounded by people who loved him dearly.
Tony was an avid outdoorsman. He cherished time spent with family, his children and grandchildren with trips to the beach, camping, fishing and hunting. And he would cook up a mean pan of biscuits and gravy-one of his favorite things to do when visiting his mom. He attended Taft City Schools and at the age of 17 began his welding career. He was one of the best-unless you asked him, and as we all know, he'd be quick to correct that statement with-No, I am THE BEST. He was responsible for various types of welding, from layout to interpreting mechanical drawings to the hands-on expertise in the use of oxygen acetylene equipment. And in spite of his love of welding, he never taught his sons to weld. According to Brad, his dad never wanted them to work in the fields. He was proud of the choices they made and the men they have become.
For the last three years, Tony had been working in Colorado. There he taught himself to speak Spanish well enough to understand and respond when one of the welding helpers grumbled about his work orders. Yep, the gringo set him straight. Tony would call mom from his front porch in Colorado and describe the tornados as they approached his front door and the golfball size hail as it hammered his truck. This was not the weather a California boy was used to but it was amazing to him and he just had to share the experience-not understanding that he was really scaring the pants off of her! He met some wonderful people who became his extended family: Karina Miranda and her husband, Jose Mendoza and their children, Litzy Miranda, Kenya Mendoza and Brittany Mendoza. Litzy said he was like a Grandpa to them. He would attend church with them which began his journey back to the Lord.
Tony was baptized as a child at St. Francis Church in Bakersfield. He spoke to Mom about it when he got home, saying that because of the life he lead, he could never be forgiven. She explained to him that there is nothing that cannot be forgiven if you place yourself in the hands of Christ. So with the help of family and friends he found his way back to the Lord.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Evelyn (Babe) and Jim Pence; Tina Cash, (mother of Brad and Justin Cash); his sons, Brad Cash and his wife, Miranda, and Justin Cash and his wife, Amy, and Tyler Young and his wife, Lauren; his grandchildren, Elisebeth and Lane Cash, Devin Cash and Ethan and Orion Young; his sisters, Lynda Henry and her husband, Ken, Sharon Byers and her husband, Rick, and Vicky Teel; brothers, Billy Cash, David Cash and his wife, Trish, David Pence, Daniel Pence and his wife, Evelyn, and Jimmy Pence and his wife, Diane; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cash, sister, Jeannine Cash and brother, Jimmy Cash. They will welcome him home.
We welcome friends and family to the celebration of life for our beloved son, brother, Dad, Papa T and friend on Tuesday, September, 29, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. for a graveside service at West Side District Cemetery in Taft.
