1928 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Charles "Chuck" Bennett October 17, 1928 - November 30, 2012 Chuck was born in Santa Ana, CA, and attended Orange Union High School. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was in the first graduating class of Cal Poly Pomona in 1957 with a degree in Agricultural Services. He worked for Orange County Department of Agriculture, Calavo Growers, and then 24 years for Kern County Department of Agriculture. He was District Inspector in Wasco, and then became Deputy Agricultural Commissioner in the Bakersfield office. After retirement, he enjoyed being a courier for Bank of America. He served as an elder in First Presbyterian Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church, and as a member of the 1998-1999 Kern County Grand Jury. One of his greatest joys was taking his family on camping trips throughout the Western United States and Canada. Chuck is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathryn; daughters, Cheryl Van Ingen (Tom) and Colleen Burrus (James); son, Craig Bennett; grandchildren, Jennifer Pattison (Shawn), Megan Cook, Jonathan Cook, Elisa Bennett, Bethany Bennett, Jared Bennett, Crystal Bennett, Michelle Bennett; and eight great-grandchildren.
