Cheryl Ann Knauber Wingereid Obituary
Mom was born and raised in Bakersfield, California by her proud parents, Aneta Thelma and Kenneth Alexander Knauber. She was eagerly welcomed as she was the first girl in a household full of boys. Though she loved "girly" things, she was able to "hold her own" with her brothers. As a young adult she started a family and produced two girls, Monica Tessa and Jennifer Nichole. She was gifted mechanically, providing for her family by repairing appliances and working in a transistor radio factory. Later she worked for the US Postal Service for several years. During this time she met the love of her life, Lars Erling Wingereid. He brought such joy, laughter, and wholeness into her world. He tenderly cared for her, Monica, and Jennifer. Shortly thereafter, they were blessed with a son, Stefan Nathanael Wingereid. Lars' stability allowed her to focus on her heart's desires: homemaking, mothering, gardening, art, sculpting, jewelry making, sewing, crafting, and obtaining a Master's Degree in Art History.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Danny and Dennis. She leaves behind her husband of 25 years, Lars; daughters, Monica (Phillip) Blas and Jennifer (Jason) Wilson; son, Stefan (Katelyn) Wingereid; brothers, Gary (Nancy) and Terry (Debbie) Fenwick, Steve, Joe (Tiffany), John, and Dana Knauber; sister, Kathy (Rocky) Bayless; and grandchildren, Alexander Santa Cruz III, Trenton and Ruby Wilson, and Aden Blas.
Mom was gentle in spirit with a kind heart. She was a tender mother and a faithful friend. She was slow to judge, always lending understanding to those around her. Growing up, we never heard gossip or an unkind word from her mouth. Her life was faith lived out; she leaves behind a heritage rich in purity and love. In life's many twists and turns, mom always provided a spiritual application rooted in the Word. She will be sorely missed in this lifetime, and we yearn for our reunion with her in Heaven.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 6th, 10:45 am at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. Celebration of Life following at Journey Church.
