Christine Steers Lancaster Obituary
Christine Lancaster was born on June 3, 1959 in Munchweiler, Germany to Ed and Hildegard Steers. The family moved to Bakersfield in 1960. Christine attended Foothill High School, after graduating in 1977 she began a 38 year career with Thrifty Drug;later known as Rite-Aide. Christine married her high school sweet heart, Doug Lancaster, on September 27, 1980. Together they had a son, Justin and a daughter, Heather. Over the years Doug and Christine built a beautiful life together here in Bakersfield. She enjoyed taking family vacations to Oregon and loved fishing off of her favorite train trestle, it was there that she found peace and relaxation. Christine also loved visiting Las Vegas, you could often find her there with family and friends, playing video poker for hours at a time. Over the many years she worked for Thrifty/Rite-Aide, Christine made friends from all walks of life and she has touched a number of people with her kind and caring spirit. She was a simple woman with a big heart and a contagious laugh. Some of the things she loved were Dr.pepper in styrofoam cups, lemons, and of course her two weenie dogs. Her biggest pleasure in life was seeing her children happy, she lived for them. Although her absence from this earth has broken many hearts, there is comfort in knowing she is in heaven, no longer in pain. She will forever be our sweet and feisty "Teenie". Her hope and faith in God's plan for her life never wavered. After valiantly battling lung cancer for nine months Christine went to be with her Lord on May 16, 2015. She passed peacefully with her loving husband and family by her side. She is preceded in death by her father, Lawson Ed Steers, her father -in- law, J.D. Lancaster and her mother -in- law, Joyce Lancaster. She is survived by her husband Doug Lancaster, her mother and step father Bill and Hildegard Siener, her step mother Linda Steers, her siblings Pam Perez and Eddie Steers, her two children Justin and Heather Lancaster, her brothers and sisters -in- law Santiago Perez, Deb Steers, Audrey and Steve Neumeyer and Frank and Glenda Devilbiss and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, neices and nephews.
