Christopher James Fitch left us suddenly in early March, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu he loved so dearly. A native son of Bakersfield, Chris attended Stockdale Elementary School in his youth, and later Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield College, before graduating from San Francisco State University. Chris fondly enjoyed college life in San Francisco, always eager to challenge his college friends, roommates, and even his brother, Tyson, to vigorous philosophical debate. He remained lifelong friends with many of his college buddies. Chris's passion for law even led him to explore law school and an internship at a law firm. His desire to see the wider world and a life abroad led him to Japan, where he lived and taught English for four years in the Yokohama area. Eventually, Chris would return to San Francisco, where he accepted a position with the General Services Administration, working on real estate leasing for the U.S. federal government. Chris was immensely proud of his government service. He studied and trained intensely, eventually rising to the rank of Contract Special Agent. Following his time in San Francisco and Los Angeles, Chris accepted an opportunity to relocate to the GSA's Honolulu office. Living in downtown Honolulu, Chris grew to love Hawaii deeply. No matter where he lived, Chris loved to explore those cities' and islands' hidden away places. His brother, Tyson, would eventually join Chris living in Hawaii. Shortly after his arrival in Hawaii, Chris met the love of his life, Britany Edwards, and they began dating on Valentine's Day of 2014. Their relationship blossomed, and they became engaged this year. Always thinking ahead, Chris was even planning to build a house in Hawaii close to Britany's warm, inviting family. Despite all of his travels, Chris always made it home to spend the holiday season with his family.
Christopher is survived by his parents, James and Mimi Fitch, his grandmother, Nola Fitch, his brother, Tyson Fitch, and his fiancee, Britany Edwards. He will be dearly missed by all. A Celebration of Life for Christopher will be held on the island of Oahu in Hawaii during the first part of June.
