Clara Mae Mims Obituary
As it is appointed unto all men, Clara Mims, too, has entered into eternity, shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 15th in Los Angeles County. The eldest and dearest Mae, as she was often called, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.F. Gadson formally of Waco, Texas. It was there in Waco where Clara and her only other sibling, Marion were born. After the war, her father Myles went west to find work and soon sent for his family. Therefore, Clara, her brother, and mother Clarice boarded the train to California.
After attending Bakersfield High School and graduating in 1958, she met and married Clifton "Squeeky" Mims to whom she remained committed to until his death in 2008 at the on set of February. In all, Clara bore three children, a daughter Cheryl N. Mims and two sons Robeen and Rodger Gillem Jr. the latter of whom, as well as her parents, precede her in death. However, she is survived by her remaining children, an aunt Earlene Crane of Waco, and an uncle, Spivy Bradshaw of Fort Worth, Texas along with many other relatives. Although Clara suffered from what is called "mental-illness" for most of her life, still indeed she was and is a kind and generous soul.
Services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, July 21st, at Anchor of Hope Church, 926 8th Bakersfield, California.
