Clarene McKinney was born a twin, in Lamesa, Texas on January 12, 1937 to Bert and Alva McKinney. The family later settled in Bakersfield, Ca where Clarene met and married her lifelong sweetheart Richard Handy in 1955. They were happily married until his passing in 1996. Clarene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a homemaker but also worked as a telephone operator, and in retail sales. She will be remembered for her tender heart for animals, her talent to create beautiful ceramics, her talent for drawing, and her joy in horseback riding.
Clarene was preceeded in death by her mother and father, Burt and Alva McKinney, 4 siblings Berthene, Travis, Kenneth, and Harold, husband Richard Handy, and daughter Sondra Handy Hooper. She is survived by three children, Dana Handy, Pamela Neal, and Gina Bridges; also 10 grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren. Clarene had many extended family members and friends that she loved, she will be missed by many.
We are comforted in knowing that her and Dad and are together again.
Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd, Bakersfield, Ca on Friday March 25th at 2pm. All those who knew and loved Clarene are welcome to attend.
