Clifford Eugene Mallory Obituary
Clifford Eugene Mallory, age 94, passed away on March 27, 2015, in Bakersfield, CA. He was born in Nevada, Iowa, to Oliver Sherman and Edna Lucille Mallory. He left home at 14 years of age and went to work on a farm, until duty called, and he enlisted in the Army on September 10, 1942. He fought in WWII from North Africa all the way to Egypt. He also served in France and Normandy, and was decorated with the American Campaign Medal WWII, the Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Medal, as well as earning three Bronze Battle Stars, the Oak Leaf Distinguished Unit badge, a Bronze Arrowhead, and a service stripe.
After the war, he came home to marry his sweetheart, Dorris, whom he had known all of his life. He went to work for John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa, building prototypes of various farming equipment which he tested all over the United States. In 1952 he came to California and started a custom harvesting business, where he worked until his retirement in the mid-1980s. In the late 1990s, Dorris passed away, and Clifford later married Lucille. Throughout his life, two of his favorite pastimes were camping and fishing.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Lucille; three children: Evelyn Sheler of Sedalia, MO, Marjorie York of Bakersfield, CA, and Mark and his wife, Cindy Mallory of Bakersfield, CA; 15 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 58 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
