Clifford M. Coy Obituary
Cliff was surrounded by family when he passed away on June 11, 2014.
Born July 24, 1931in Salisbury, Missouri. He attended the local schools and upon graduation from high school enlisted in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954. He was stationed in San Diego, California and attached to the Flag Administration Unit, COM AIR PAC NAS.
Leaving the Navy, he came back to Bakersfield in 1954 and was employed by the State of California, Division of Highways, as a surveyor. He later joined Bakersfield Police Department for 6 years as a patrolman. His next endeavor of 10 years with the KIMCOL Credit Union as Secretary Treasurer. His final employment was with the Kern Co. Dept. of Human Services that later became part of Special Investigating Unit of the Kern Co. District Attorney's Office. He worked 33 years as a Special Investigating Officer and retired in 2004.
One of Cliff's passions was music. He listened to a variety of music and loved playing the folk music of the 50's and 60's on his guitar. For 50 years he was an avid fitness advocate and spent 5 days a week at the gym to maintain his fitness regimen.
Cliff is survived by Helen Coy, his wife of 50 years, children Jeffrey Coy, Suzanne Allen, Laura Niavez and a granddaughter that he raised, Christie Coy. His grandchildren are Jennifer Monsibais, David Monsibais, Kyra Allen, Levi and Nicholas Niavez and great-grandchildren Grant Monsibais, Liliana Monsibais, Camila Monsibais and Natasha Monsibais.
Cliff has two surviving brothers in Missouri, Donnie (Donna) Goin and John Goin, a sister Wynona Hill of Louisiana, plus nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Janice Monsibais, mother Roberta McMiller, brother Jerry Goin and sister Juanita Andrews.
