Daniel "Augie" Aughinbaugh Obituary
Daniel (Augie) was born to Ira & Clara Aughinbaugh in Indiana on April 12, 1918. At an early age he went to work on his Aunt & Uncles farm, as they had no children at the time. It was there he established a strong work ethic that continued into his adult life.
Augie being of small stature was made for being the belly gunner on the B-24 Liberator during WWII. You could tell the pride he had serving his country when he spoke of it.
After his honorable discharge, Augie migrated to California (Avenal) where he met his future wife Bette Borderre. They married at Judge Noriegas in Bakersfield & eventually moved to Bakersfield 1956. The family moved to Posey (Jack Ranch) in 1966 where all enjoyed the mountain life and his retirement from the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local 460. When Bette became ill they returned to Bakersfield. Augie became her primary care giver around the clock.
Augie was his own man loved and respected by many.
Augie is predeceased by his parents, 1 brother, 3 sisters and his wife Bette. He is survived by one sister and daughters Cecilia & Danny & Christy & Ken, 3 grandsons Josh & Renee, Shawn & Kelly, Todd & Becci & 5 great grand children, also several nieces & nephews
Thanks so much to the staff at San Joaquin Hospital and The Rehabilitation Center of Bakersfield for their loving care of our father in his last days.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the VFW or American Legion.
