Daniel Cruz Obituary
Dad passed away after a long illness peacefully in his sleep with family at his bedside. Dad was a WWII veteran who served in the Navy from 1943-1945 on the U.S.S. Saratoga CV3 WT3/C. Dad was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Isodoro Cruz and Delphina Cruz (Torres). He was orphaned at age 15 months and raised by his grandmother Delphina Talamantes and step grandfather Antonio. Dad met and married Ruth Cruz until her death in 2004. He was owner operator of Dan's Barber Shop in 1955 until his retirement in 2004. He was well known by many people. He enjoyed cooking and gambling.
Dad was preceeded in death by his wife of 57 years Ruth Cruz, parents Delphina Cruz Torres and Isodoro Cruz half sister Gloria Torres, Grandmother Delphina Talamantes and step grandfather Antonio.
Dad is survived by daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Victor Castro, sons Isadoro and Evangelina Cruz, Daniel and Bertha Cruz Jr., Susana and Tose Ramirez, and Cecelia Rodriguez, 27 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, especially Alina, Mody Jr, Molly and Max Munoz and sister-in-law Socorro Jones.
I would like to extend my love and appreciation to his grandsons Roy Castro and Victor Jr. who helped care for him. Also, a deep gratitude to Dr. William Gilli and his nurse Cece Cross. A sincere appreciation to Hoffman Hospice and their angels Denise G, Crissy N, Amy P, Denise S, and Mason W.
Casket bearer will be Roy Castro, Victor Castro jr, Mody Munoz Sr. Mody Jr, Daniel Cruz Jr, Jessie Reyes. Honorary casket bearers Isador Cruz, Gabriel Jimenez, Alez Vasquez and Fred Zuniga.
Visitation will be held at Basham Mortuary on Niles St. Monday, April 14th at 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Rosary will be at 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Dad will be laid to rest with Mom and graveside services at 2 p.m. at Greenlawn Mortuary on River Blvd.
