Dave Werner passed away following complications from his September 2014 bilateral lung transplant surgery. He gave it his best and fought a brave battle.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, William Ray Werner and Mary Catherine Werner who both have the honor of being buried at Arlington National Cemetery in recognition of service to their country.
Dave is survived by his wife, Patty Werner; stepson, Evan Werner; his sister Colette Hoff; brother in law, Jon Hoff; his niece Amie Aylward, her husband Colin Aylward and their son, William Ray (Wiley) Aylward.
In addition to his immediate family, Dave is survived by numerous loving friends; his bosses at Nabors, his friends at major oil and service related companies; his many peers and work associates; his country club golf buddies; his dog park people; his New Jersey homies; his fellow music lovers and band mates; his physicians, nurses and other health care professionals at both UCLA and UCSD, as well as his at-home care providers. He was a true and loyal friend.
Dave was a member of the Sierra Club, the SPCA, and supporter of all animal causes, but what may be his greatest legacy was his dedication to the safety and well being of the oilfield "hands." He made it a better place to work!
As a transplant recipient, Dave returned the favor by donating his corneas, bone marrow, as well as skin and tissue for burn victims.
A celebration of his life is being hosted on July 30th by Steve and Kim Whaley, of SOS Crane Company. For details, please contact the office of SOS Crane in Bakersfield, CA.
