David Harold Turner Obituary
David Harold Turner December 3, 1944 - July 18, 2012 David Harold Turner was called home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2012. He was born December 3, 1944 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Elizabeth Turner. David was the 10th of 12 children born to "Lizzie and Bud". The Turner family moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1954. Even though he was one of the youngest, all of his other siblings looked to him for advice and guidance. For all that knew him, he was always there to lend a hand, make you laugh and bring out the smile in everyone. David is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Faye "Honey", daughter Teri, son Jeff and his grandchildren, Bailey, Sydney, Jacob and Cory. He also leaves behind 6 sisters Jean, Katheryn, Dorothy (Charles), Donna, Betty (Roger), Janet (Sherrill), and one brother, Joe (Sue), along with many, many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy that many will never forget. David loved camping and was an avid fisherman, hunter and all around outdoorsman. There was never a trip that David would shy away from. David worked for UPS for 36 years before retiring in 2006. There was never a customer that didn't love him. Davids favorite thing to do, besides being outdoors, was spending time with his family. He was the life of all get togethers, and it wouldn't feel complete until 'Uncle Dave' was there. From the oldest family member to the youngest, Dave, "Handsome", was loved by all. David lived a very active life, even through this past year as he fought an amazing battle with cancer. He attended the Bakersfield this past May, where he did the survivors walk and received his medal for completeing the 'Survivors Lap'. That was an amazing day for ALL to see! Unfortunately, cancer took him entirely too soon. So to all, like Dad always said, "Take care of yourselves, and live every day like there's no tomorrow!" We would like to send a huge 'Thank you!' to Optimal Hospice! You girls were amazing! In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to Turner's Tribe. It is our family's team for the . All money will go to the in hopes of finding a cure for cancer. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 27th, 10:00am at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road. www.bakersfield.com/obits
