David Karl Demkey Obituary
David Karl Demkey 1949 - 2013 David was born on May 30, 1949 in Bakersfield to Paul and Dorothy Demkey. He went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2013 surrounded by family at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 1:00 -3:00 at Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Avenue. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Daybreak Baptist Church, 5446 Taft Highway, Bakersfield. David worked most of his life on the family farm and raised Registered Angus and Registered Quarter Horses. in later years he worked in organic agriculture. He was an avid hunter, horseman and fisherman and taught all of his girls to ride, shoot and fish. He was in the process of turning his grandchildren into fishermen as well. He loved the mountains. David was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jeanne; his daughters Kristin (David) Howell, Amber (MichaelPaul) Allen, Stefanie (Troy) Hilbish, and Heather and Sara Demkey. He is also survived by his grandchildren Aaron, Grace and Kourtney Allen, Ashton Jayden, Trenten, Brennen, Skylee and Evie Hillbish, and Haley and Pierce Howell; brother Paul William "Bill" (Melanie) Demkey, Jr.; sister Janet Bird; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks go to Christina, Denise and Lori with Hoffman Hospice, Sherri and Danielle with Around the Clock, Staff at CBCC and Florence R. Wheeler Cancer Center, Dr. Shiue, Dr. Gorla, Dr. NG, Dr. Wiebe and Mercy and Memorial Hospitals. David, you are so very much loved and will be greatly missed. Life will not be the same without you but we rejoice that you are in Heaven with our Heavenly Father and that you are at last at peace. We will see you in Heaven.
