David Tillman Branscom

David Tillman Branscom died peacfully at his home in Bakersfield, California on October 17, 2014. He was 95 years old.
David is survived by his daughters Jacqueline Ruth Somerville and Nancy Theresa Branscom, two granddaughters, and 5 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Josephine Wolcott, the mother of his daughters, and by his loving companion of 40 years, Ruth Koehler.
David was born on a farm on August 6, 1919, in Minco, Oklahoma, to Roy Anthony Branscom and Willemina Branscom, nee Tillman. he served in the US Army Air Force during WWII and afterwards graduated from le Tourneau University in Longview, with a degree in Engineering. He worked most of his career in aeronautical engineering in Souther California. Later he and Ruth moved to Bakersfield and he began working as an electrical engineer for the State of California, from which he retired.
David was an avid outdoorsman; hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. As a lifetime member of the NRA, he taught Hunter Safety to young people for may years. He also volunteered many hours to the Campfire Girls in Long Beach, California.
He and Ruth loved traveling in their motor home, were members of the Establishment Club; and longtime members of the Moose Lodge which sponsored him to go on the Honor Flight for WWII Veterans in 2014.
He was the ultimate "fix-it" man who built, rebuilt, or repaired anything presented to him., be it plumbing, autos, construction and all things electric. David loved working with wood and spent many hours in his woodshop creating beautiful iterns, especially unusual clocks.
The family would like to thank Ms. Jeannie Shain for her 5 years of dedication lovingly caring for David and for giving him as active and as social a life that he would have wanted, despite his many physical and medical issues.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Stockdale moose Lodge, 905 Stine Rd., Saturday Oct. 25th from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Stockdale Moose #2178 for Honor Flight Kern County Fund!
