Long-term Delano resident, born an only child, November 26, 1930 to Miles and Emily Bullock in Sherburne, NY.
It is with both rejoicing and great sorrow to announce the loss of Dawn who passed from natural causes on Sunday, August 28, in Tulare, CA. She is survived by her two sons, Vaughn Harvey of Delano, CA and Andre Harvey and his wife Beatriz and their son Marcellus of Spring Valley, CA and her former husband, Ross Harvey of Durango, CO. Dawn was an amazing personality who tirelessly lived her life in the service of others in need, "no" very seldom appeared in her vocabulary. She was a school teacher for the Delano Joint Elementary School District from 1970 to 1991 where she tenured at Freemont, Del Vista and Valley Vista schools. For most of her residency in Delano, she also volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for The First Baptist Church, The United Methodist church and the First Assembly of God church. She was also a member of McFarland Woman's Club. Dawn was raised on her family's farm in Sherburne, NY and moved west with her parents in approximately 1950, to Kingman Arizona and later to California. She was a graduate of Biola Bible College in Whittier where she took courses from the famous Dr. J. Vernon, McGee and met her husband there. Dawn and Ross eventually located to Delano in 1962 where they raised their children.
was an accomplished artist, marching band musician (clarinetist) and sang in church choirs. Her wonderful oil and water color paintings adorned many local homes and businesses and led to commissions.
