Deborah Pike-Spradley Obituary

With her family by her side, heaven gained a shining star when Debbie passed from this earth after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Debbie was born in Portland, Oregon. Her parents moved the family to Bakersfield in 1961 and became long-time residents. Debbie attended local schools including Colonel Nichols, Compton and East High. She received her BS in nursing from Cal State Bakersfield.
Debbie started her nursing career at LA County-USC Medical Center where she often said it was "baptism under fire," having been designated a charge nurse during her first week of orientation as a new graduate nurse. She could relate stories of her early nursing experiences that could have filled books! She was an awesome nurse and loved every moment of her nursing career. Debbie worked at KMC (Director of MICU, PACU, House Sup) for many years where she met her husband-to-be, Ronald Spradley. Debbie and Ron married in 1991.
A few years later, the couple left Bakersfield and enjoyed living in several different locations including: the Pismo Beach area; St. George, Utah; Kennewick, WA; and the Diamond Valley area of Hemet, CA. Debbie loved spending time with her family, including her loveable 4-legged family members. She enjoyed travelling, meeting people, shopping, decorating and having spa days. Debbie loved having a good time which was contagious to those around her. She also acquired, from Ron, an understanding and enjoyment of all levels of football. She was a "nurse" long before she had the degree, always thinking of others first and making sure they were cared for.
Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved father, William Pike, her angelic niece, Joselyn Toews, and her grand-parents. She is survived by her loving family members: Husband, Ron; Mother, Shirley Pike and sister, Cynthia Pike of Camarillo, CA; Sister and B-I-L, Pam and Douglas Toews; nephew and his wife, Justin and Goldie Toews and great-niece and nephew, Julia and Jordan Toews - all of Albany, Oregon. Debbie was also a step-mom and grandmother to Ron's children and grandchildren.
Her family and friends are finding an emptiness in our hearts as we all realize a bright light has been dimmed with Debbie's passing. A celebration of Debbie's life will be held February 8th , 3:00 - 5:00pm at the Solera Diamond Valley Lodge in Hemet.
