Dewey W. Manzer Obituary

Dewey W. Manzer "Papa Dewey"
1922 - 2018

Dewey was born in Hominy, OK March 14, 1922, and passed away peacefully in his home on August 4, 2018, at the age of 96. He was the last of 9 brothers and sisters. He worked many years for Omeara & Rogers Construction Co. then many years as owner/operator of Dewey Manzer Drilling. He had a great love of camping, fishing and spending time with his family. In his later years, he really enjoyed going to the "casino". He never met a stranger and was everyone's favorite "Uncle Dewey". He is survived by his wife Ruby, children Carol Thompson, Linda (Sam) Hunt, Beverly Manzer, Rick Stevens, 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Ruby's sons, Henry and Michael Smith for their patience and all that they did for our dad. Dewey proudly served in his country in the US Army. He had many stories to tell about landing at Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and various other battles.

A military ceremony will be held at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on Thursday, August 16 at 9:15 a.m. A Celebration of life will be held at the home of Sam and Linda Hunt, 7032 Luke Ave Bakersfield following the ceremony.
