Dianna Lynn Jones Obituary
Dianna Lynn Jones July 10, 1954 ~ October 15, 2012 Dianna was born in Lompoc, CA, to Denton and Shirley McGuire. In 1955 they moved to Bakersfield, CA, where she attended Standard Elementary School and graduated from North High School in 1972. Dianna met the love of her life at age 14, and they married August 26, 1972. In 1973 she gave birth to her first child, Kelli, and then her second child, Eric, was born in 1975. She was a housewife and mother during her children's younger years, then went to work at H & R Block. In 1998 she went to work as an office manager for California Retirement Plans; she worked there until her job title became full-time cancer fighter, first diagnosed in 2003 with breast cancer and then again in 2009 with osteosarcoma. Dianna fought courageously with grace and dignity until her very last breath. Dianna loved life; she was a social butterfly, always hosting a party any chance she could. She volunteered as the wedding coordinator at our church for many years. Dianna loved to travel with her family and friends, her favorite place being the beach. Dianna's greatest joys were her grandchildren; they were the motivating force behind her valiant battle. And, as for her grandchildren, she was the center of their universe. Dianna is survived by her husband of 40 years, Terry Jones; her daughter, Kelli Segroves and her husband, Ronnie; her son, Eric Jones; and her three grandchildren, Brenden Wheeler, Clairessa Wheeler, and Romy Jones. Dianna is also survived by her parents, Denton and Shirley, as well as her brother, Delbert McGuire. Dianna had many, many friends; each one of them held a special place in her heart. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Patel, Susana Bell, and the numerous nurses and staff members at CBCC. Also, a special thank you to lifelong friends, Vikki Bruno and Paula Maxwell; their help during Dianna's last few days was invaluable. There will be a memorial service held in Dianna's honor on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Celebration of Life Center, 2739 Panama Lane. A celebration of life will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bakersfield Links for Life. This organization and its members helped Dianna through many battles, and she would want to make sure they could continue to help others as well.
