Dolores P. "Nana" Lucero Obituary
With family by her side, comforting her, we found strength in each other to say goodbye. Our mother fell asleep in death at home in Bakersfield, California. Birthplace Sile, New Mexico. Moving to Bakersfield, life was good.
After a 25 year career with the US Postal Service she retired to live each day enjoying family, Dodger Baseball, dogs- Blue, "Boy" and Elvis; gardening, traveling and country music. But life is unpredictable... stealing her independence, after a severe injury left her in convalescent care. Eventually she went home under the care of her eldest daughter and grandchildren Mookie, May'C, Nini and Daniel. "Nana" never gave up, encouraged us to do our best and (from Erica) "became our Sunshine".
Blessed with a family spanning 5 generations, she leaves daughters, MaryAnn Rogers and Virginia Medina; beloved son Phillip Lucero, his wife Valerie; 9 grandchildren,
20 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great- grandchildren; brother Steve Paiz, sister Ruby Paiz; sisters-in-law of New Mexico Rita Goske, Petra Lucero and beloved Blanche Paiz Torres; Commadre Frances Venegas; many nephews, nieces along with other beloved family members and friends.
Interment will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 2:00pm, Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield.
Love unconditionally...
and show compassion for all...
