What a grand life and legacy! Bakersfield native; born at K.C. Hospital and graduated high school at BHS, (KC). Dona married another Bakersfield native, Bob Thompson and they celebrated 61 years as "Life Partners"; raising two sons, Mark and Brad plus two daughters Linda and Colleen. Resulting in 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. School years were busy with scouts and sporting events Dona participated in leadership roles at attendant schools and scouting groups and later devoted many years to teaching bible study classes.
Bob and Dona traveled to over 60 different countries; especially enjoying the cultures of third world countries. Their business enterprise's consisted of many real estate ventures including redevelopment of the Uptown Yacht Harbor in Stockton, California. Weekend visits to Stockton prompted them to start flying their own aircraft.
During the school years the Thompson family participated in competitive water skiing; including regional and national events. This family passion precipatated constructing their own water ski lake. Designed for training purposes but later expanded to a full scale sports camp and conference center, which they operated for 25 years.
Retirement provided them the opportunity to pursure fly fishing and golf, that resulted in many summer vacations in the Rocky Mountain states.
Dona was a long time member of Parkside Baptist Church and she was a devout christian; secure in her faith.

Memorial services are scheduled at Parkside Church, 2515 Church Avenue, Bakersfield, California on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 am.
