Donald A. Diedrich Obituary

Donald A. Diedrich, 69, long time resident of Bakersfield, California, and recent transplant to Paso Robles, California, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Twin Cities Community Hospital following the conclusion of intensive treatment for cancer. Born at the Crows Landing Naval Base in Northern California to William and Dorothy Diedrich, Don spent most of his early life in San Diego, California before relocating to Kern County.

Don was a quiet and introspective man who was a wealth of knowledge for all who he shared conversations; many through numerous years as the owner/operator of Sam's-Serv-Ur-Self in Lamont, California as well as his years spent as a Realtor/Broker through Fireside Realty, Diedrich Realty and Century 21 Southwest.

Don's greatest love and passion in life was his daughter, Melissa, and his grandchildren, Chase and Kaia. He was an extremely loving and proud father and enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm through stories and recollections of Melissa's childhood, countless years and miles traveling for softball games and tournaments, late night study sessions, and numerous graduation ceremonies that culminated and celebrated his efforts along with hers. Don also loved being a grandpa from the moment Chase and Kaia were born and never spent more than 48-hours away from his grandkids; driving them to and from school, teaching them his trade in real estate and in stock trading, taking them fishing, and on yearly summer trips.

Don is survived by his daughter, Melissa Diedrich, and her husband, Jarrett Williams, whom Don shared a similar introspect and held in the highest of regard; his grandchildren, Chase and Kaia Diedrich; brother Ronald Diedrich; as well as nephews and other family and friends. Don, and the Diedrich-Williams family, was lovingly cared for by Laura Lawndale and Jillian West during his illness. Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Diedrich, and parents, William and Dorothy Diedrich.

As a means of upholding Don's wishes, in lieu of funeral services, a luncheon for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant 623 Chester Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
