Donald Allman Obituary

Hard worker... Good provider... Generous to a fault.
Don Allman was born in Baird, Texas on August 19, 1927. He rode out to California in the back of a truck during the Dust Bowl Migration of the 1930's. He worked in the fields with his parents, brother and sister in the Lamont and Arvin area. After moving to California, he met and married Imogene Pugh Salter on September 9, 1949. He was lead to the Lord in his 20's by Rev. Murray E. Hall and Rev. Russell Trammell during a revival meeting. He was devoted to his God and his family; and loved a good family gathering.
Don served state side in the U.S. Army during WWII, the Army Reserves and later the National Guard. He retired from the telephone company in 1983 after 35 years of service. During his life, Don had many hobbies and side jobs. He owned vending machines, a gas station and a beekeeping business. He was also a masseur, a butcher and a movie extra. He was involved in several local commercials and countless movies but he was most proud of "Bugsy" and "The Enemy Within". He was even invited to participate as an actor & advisor to writer, director and film maker students in the U.C. system. He had a passion for cooking, loved playing any type of card game or dominoes, was always telling stories and enjoyed meeting new people. He was one of the founders, and first president, of the Valley Voyagers RV Club of Valley Baptist Church.
Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Imogene Allman, his daughters and their husbands all of Bakersfield: Jerry Hall (and husband Mike), Glynda Organ (and husband Ray, Sr.) and Kathy Kidd (and husband John). He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Tiffany (Organ) Bowles (and her husband Stephen), Jenny (Hall) Allbee, Joe Hall (of Arroyo Grande CA and his wife, Stacy), David Kidd, Raymond Organ, Jr. (and his wife Leah), and Kimberly Kidd. Don was also blessed with, and survived by, six great-grandchildren of Bakersfield and Arroyo Grande CA: Tyler Allbee, Hayden Hall, Della Bowles, Baleigh Organ, Hannah Hall, Courtland Bowles and extended family Lexi, Cole and Eli. Lastly, Don is survived by Cindy Robertson of Missouri and her children Michael and Mindy and their families, all of Idaho, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and his puppy "Bubbee".
Don is preceded in death by his parents Benny & Pearl Allman and Ruth Allman. Also preceding him in death are his sister Hazel Steele, brother Dorman Allman and his first lap dog "Piper".
Don's family wishes to thank all of the friends and family who offered prayers, support and encouragement during this difficult time.
