Donald "Ray" Dixon

1929 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Donald "Ray" Dixon Obituary
Donald "Ray" Dixon June 14, 1929 - May 16, 2013 Donald " Ray" Dixon was born on June 14, 1929 in Purcell, OK to Ceril and Rachel Dixon. He passed away on May 16, 2013 with his family by his side. He married Viera (Jeri) on January 7, 1949. They were blessed with three daughters. Ray worked numerous jobs, including oil fields and tree trimming, but his favorite job of all was collecting "stuff" aka "junking". Ray never met a stranger and those who had the pleasure of meeting him never forgot him . He had a way of lighting up the room with his infectious laughter. He would often entertain the family by picking up the guitar and singing or telling stories of "the good ole' days". He was a devoted Christian who loved and served the Lord. Ray loved to witness to those that crossed his path about God's grace and word. He also drove a " Sunday school" church bus for many years. He was especially passionate about his family, his love was unconditional and so selfless. A loving brother, husband, father and "funny grandpa" who will certainly be missed by all. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Viera, of 64 years; daughters Lorraine, Diane and Sandie; son-in-laws Art and David; grandchildren Cindy, Ryan, Rodney, Sherami, Shelbi, Levi and Seth as well as 7 great grandchildren; brothers Alfred, Danny, and Dickie; sisters Jeanette, Joyce and Patricia. Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21st from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary. Services will be held Wednesday, May 22nd at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest chapel, Graveside to follow. www.bakersfield.com/obits
