Donald McEachron Foster Donald McEachron Foster, Diagnostic Radiologist, died peacefully at Mercy Hospital Southwest in Bakersfield, CA on August 12, 2013. He was 87 years old. Brought up in White Plains, NY, he entered Amherst College in 1943. He joined the Navy's V-12 college training program, a program designed to supplement the force of commissioned officers in WW II and was transferred to Union College in Schenectady, NY, where he graduated second in his class in 1947 with both Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi honors. He entered Rochester Medical School and graduated in 1950. After a stint in the Navy, he moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1955 where he was a resident at Kern Medical Center. In 1958 he and Dr. Albert Spohn built an office together and became partners in the practice of diagnostic radiology. Don retired in 1994, and the office closed. A very private man, he had a passion for classical music. He contributed to the Metropolitan Opera in NYC for many years and spent many hours listening to his favorite music. He was also a lover of nature, an avid reader of Natural Geographic and other publications. He liked to drive and walk through the mountains and especially enjoyed touring whenever the wild flowers were in bloom. He was a gardener and a handyman. Thoroughbred horse racing was another of his interests. He carefully followed the races and the jockeys. Don is survived by a brother, a sister, ten nieces and nephews, twenty-four grand nieces and nephews and one great grand niece who all welcomed his visits every holiday.
