Donald Paul Toppin Obituary
Dad was born in Ft. Collins, CO; he graduated from FCHS in 1956 and joined the National Guard for 8 years. He was a Master Mechanic with Wally Tucker Datsun for 11 years. He retired in 1998 from the Kern County Sheriff's Department. Dad was a "Jack of all Trades" he could build or fix anything. He loved football "Go Broncos", Nascar and fishing. He loved taking trips to Oregon, the coast, and Las Vegas. Dad enjoyed reading and collecting rocks. He also loved prospecting and was a member of The Golden Valley Prospectors - Bakersfield Chapter of GPAA and the Lost Dutchman's Mining Association.
Dad is preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Margery Toppin, his brothers, and sister, his wife Sylvia, and his son Darrin. He is survived by his children, Eric (Sam) Toppin, Chris (Billy) White and Leah (Greg) Stricklind, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad had a huge heart and will be deeply missed by everyone who ever knew him. A Very Special Thank You to Gentiva Hospice.
Viewing will be held at Mission Family Mortuary on Sunday July 19th from 12 pm to 3pm, 531 California Ave. Services will be held at Arvin Cemetery on Monday July 20th at 10:00 am 15543 S. Vineland Rd., reception immediately following at Mission Family Mortuary.
