Doris Jane (Knight) Hurt passed away peacefully on July 4, 2015 in Bakersfield, CA.
Doris was born August 16, 1914 in Decatur, Illinois, to Charles Frank Knight and Jessie Bernice (Baugh) Knight. Doris' family moved to Pelly, Texas in 1919, where she grew to adulthood.
After moving to California in the '40's she met and fell in love with Enos L. Hurt. Doris and Enos were married October 2, 1947. Enos was born in 1902 and died May 13,1978.
Doris worked at Wright Insulation Company bookkeeping; back when it was all handwritten from the 1960s to the 1900s- 40 years and for the Youth for Christ in the 80's for 18 years, bookkeeping part time.
She was a charter member of Ridgeview Community Church since 1954. Doris taught Sunday school there for 47 years until 1994.
Doris has two foster daughters: Bonnie Lou (Bopp) Martin- Yosemite, CA; who survives her and Anita (Bopp) Caraway predeceased. Two granddaughters: Christy Lee Valdez; Rebekah Martin. Doris leaves behind 4 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 7 nephews, who will miss her greatly. Two sisters, Eunice (Bobbie) Knight Datanner, Margaret M. Knight Clancy, and two brothers, Alfred R. Knight and James D. Knight, predecease her.
At 100 years old, she said it has been an " incredible journey" and "Wanted God's will more than anything else".
Memorial services will be held at Ridgeview Community Church on July 16, 2015 at 8420 Stine Road at 5:30 P.M. Dinner to follow.
