Dorn I. Painter Obituary
Dorn I. Painter 1920 ~ 2013 Dorn I. Painter was born in Dillard, OK, on March 6, 1920, and passed away on February 19, 2013, in Oceano, CA. Our dad enlisted in the Army December 11, 1941, and was honorably discharged on September 23, 1945. During that time, he was in the U.S. Army 8th Air Force, 4th Fighter Group, 336th Squadron as a Tech Sergeant crew chief on fighter planes, including P51s. After the war, he came to California where he met our mother, Lorene Keesee, who preceded him in death. They were married for almost 47 years, made their home and raised their family in Bakersfield, CA. He was a 65-year member of the Operating Engineers, Local 12. As his family and friends can attest, he never met a stranger, always had a story, and liked to make people laugh. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews always laughed at his funny faces. He will always be in the hearts of his children, Dody Willis, Bob Painter (Rosie), and Debbie Williams (David); niece, Jackie Stonebraker, was also like a daughter, spending many summers and holidays as part of the family; grandchildren and spouses, Eddie and Lindy Willis, Rhonda and Glenn Hudson, Eric and Kelly Painter, Matt and Jennifer Painter, Andrea and Trinity Thomas, Kari and Kyle Pfeiffer, Stephanie and Eric Lempinen, Vanessa and Scott Zanutto; and 16 great-grandchildren; surviving brothers and wives, Deon and Jeanne Painter of Rogers, AR, and Cled and Peggy Painter of Athens, TX. He also leaves longtime friend, June Johnson of Oceano, CA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. For condolences please visit www.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com. Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary www.bakersfield.com/obits
