Dorothy was born in Lewiston, Idaho on December 12, 1933 to Lu and Andy Wahl. After living in various places in the northwest, she graduated from Boise High in 1951 and the University of Idaho in 1955. While in school she met and married Don Harrison on December 27, 1949.
They moved to Bakersfield where Dorothy taught at North High School before raising their family. Later she taught at Sierra, Thompson and Tevis Middle Schools. She is survived by her sister Barbara Shoenthaler, sons Rick (Karen) Harrison, Msgr. Craig Harrison, and daughter Susan Reed, plus five grandchildren, Kate (Alberto) Solana, Thomas Harrison, Kelly (Mark) Pederson, Jack Frey and Harrison Reed. She also had a loving relationship with her extended family - Jessica, Jackie, Roy, Rudy, Billy, Jose, Herky, Juan, Greg, Mark, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, daughter Nancy Frey, and infant son Jeffrey Donald Harrison.
Dorothy enjoyed the many friends she met through the neighborhood, at church, and playing tennis, golf and duplicate bridge. She loved to travel, and was always ready with the suitcase. Her latest hobby was writing and with the help of devoted friends and her Monday night writer's group, she published two novels, "Megan's Days" and "Twisted Minds".
The family would like to thank Dr. Patel, Dr. Cousin and the great staff of Around the Clock Care. A special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Veronica, Rosie, Laurie, Georgia and Donelle and Tifanny.
Dorothy asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Center, or the St. Francis Youth Center.
