Dorothy I. Goodman Obituary
Our mom, Dorothy Irene Goodman, surrounded by family peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2015 at the age of 93. She was the only child of Allen and Myrtle Hutchison Miller. She attended local schools and graduated from Kern County Union High School. During these years, she spent time with relatives at the Winters Ranch in the Fort Tejon area. She worked several years for Drasin's Baby Shop. Then in 1947, she married Eugene "Gene" Goodman who predeceased her in 2000. Together they provided a wonderful life for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad taught us a strong work ethic as a Navy veteran of WWII and Superintendent through the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 460. Mom was a good wife, great cook and always there for dad and her family. Years were surrounded with great neighbors especially the Manuel and Cecilia Duran family; along with good friends and a special sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Jim Young and nieces-Barbara McHenry, Beth Dollar, Judy Bebout and Jan Young. Mom also had 11 aunts and uncles from the Hutchison family and 4 from the Miller family.
Dorothy is survived by her children Earl Goodman Johnson, Vicki & Stan Hullender, Linda Goodman and David & Lisa Goodman. Grandchildren Mark & Sara Johnson; Michael & Sheryl Johnson; Dana & John Quitter; Jennifer Goodman and Tyler Goodman. Great grandchildren William & Rachel Johnson; Mike, Stuart, Ryan, Nicholas and Cameron Johnson; Anna & Danielle Quitter; and Natallie Goodman. Great great-grandchild Chereth Johnson. Aunts Helen Upahl and Winona Hutchison; and several cousins.
Dorothy was blessed with long life on this earth but is now with Jesus her Lord and Savior in Heaven with family and friends. Our comfort is that we will see her again. She and the family are so grateful for the excellent care provided over the years by Drs. Stephen Newbrough, William Bezdek and staff, Hao Bui, Emmanuel Strategos and staff, Viral Mehta and Kiersten Melendez PA, San Joaquin Hospital and final days with Hoffmann Hospice. We so appreciated their compassion and support. Mom was worthy of our love and will be greatly missed more than words can express by family and friends.
At mom's request there will be no services and her interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hoffmann Hospice (661) 410-1010 for their special care, or a .
