In Memoriam Condolences

Dorothy Faye Swarts was born on September 5, 1917 to Albert and Clara Butterfield outside of Quenemo, Kansas. She was the oldest of their 6 children. Her siblings included brothers Kenneth, Dearle, Keith, and Howard, and one sister, Delpha. Dorothy Married Lawrence Dale Swarts, and together they had 3 wonderful children, Tom, Danny, and Kathy. They lived and grew in Osage City, Kansas before moving to Arvin, CA in 1959.
Dorothy found joy in her job at Meridian School in Arvin where she worked until retirement. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and baking, quilting and sewing, making Pomegranate Jelly each year, camping and trips to the ocean with her husband Dale, having friends over to play cards, and traveling back to Kansas to visit family and friends. Dorothy and Dale were members of First United Methodist Church.
Over the years, Dorothy and Dale were blessed with 7 grandchildren. Danny, who married Janet, had children Eric and Erica Swarts. Tom and wife Janice's children, Kevin and Kim Swarts. And Kathy and husband Ron's children, Russell, Megan and Graham Gayer. The family would grow to include 13 great-grandchildren as well, each bringing much joy to Dorothy over the years.
Dorothy's husband Dale passed away in 1993. She would live on her own at her home on Pinewood Lake, where she loved sitting on the porch to watch the ducks splash and play, until 2014 at the age of 96, when she moved to Hallmark Assisted Living, just up the road in Bakersfield. Dorothy was very healthy and active for her age, and continued to be so until just weeks before her passing this past July 2, 2016. She was well loved by her family and is missed by all who knew her.
Today, Monday, September 5, 2016 would have been Dorothy's
birthday. We celebrate her life today, and look forward to God's promise of an eternity together again.
