Douglas Edward Hatfield Obituary
Our Hero, Our Captain America.
Douglas Edward Hatfield, 45, was born on December 8, 1968 in Eugene, Oregon and on Thursday October 9, 2014 he left us to be with our Lord and Savior in Heaven after losing his battle with cancer. He will be remembered for his commitment to Faith, Family and Honor.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Michele, his cherished children Ryan, Berkeley and Drake; parents Valerie and Mike Sylvester, Wayne Hatfield, Mike and Connie Neuschwanger; grandparents Laverne Hatfield and Melvin Rickard; siblings Cari and husband Brandon Walker, Lori and husband Mike Cook, Joshua and wife Angie Neuschwanger, and Zoe Gadsby; nephews and nieces. He will be loved and missed by Michele's family, many aunt's, uncle's, cousin's and too many friends to name.
He loved God, his family and sports of all kinds but especially his Oregon Ducks and Anaheim Angels. He graduated high school from South High in 1987 and from CSU Bakersfield in 1994 with a degree in History. He worked for Occidental Petroleum for the last 20 years. Doug was a sports fan and he played soccer, two-man volleyball, and golf. He was an avid gamer and he loved to play trading card games with his son's.
A special thank you to his best friend Matt Earls, Pastor Kent Pedersen, the doctors and nurses at UCLA and the people at Lightspeed Systems.
The service will be held on October 17, 2014 at 1pm at Greenlawn Mortuary and Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA 93305
Reception to follow at Olive Knolls Nazarene Church 6201 Fruitvale Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93308
