Douglas Kent Schofield Obituary
Douglas Kent Schofield passed peacefully in his home in Bakersfield California on March 18th 2015. Doug was born in Las Vegas Nevada. He joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and served his country in England toward the end of the Korean War. Upon his return he relocated to Bakersfield where he attended BC and met the Love of his life Cindi Sheppard- Schofield. They married and raised three children Tracy, Kent and Kevin. Doug was always a sports fan, especially anything motor sports and raised his two sons at Famoso Drag strip.
He was an amazing Father and when the time came, became an even more amazing Grandfather. Doug's greatest legacy and what pleased his heart the most was that he surrendered his heart to God and with years perseverance, led his entire family to salvation. He always had a great passion for any kind of racing and he loved taking all his children and grandchildren camping. Family was what was mosst precious to Doug and he gave to his family unconditionally.
Doug was preceded in death by his father Merle Schofield, mother Emma Jean Schofield, stepmother Margret "Peg" Schofield and older brother Grant Schofield.
He is survived by his wife Cindi, sister Marilyn Norried, daughter Tracy Miller, son-in-law Bruce, son Kent Schofield, daughter-in-law Kelly, son Kevin Schofield, daughter-in-law April. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Steven, Ryan, Kent, James, Kayla, Blaine, Cody, Cameron, Bradyn and Presley. And 7 great grandchildren, Tyler, Dean, Natalie, Vincent, Genesis, Roland and Katelyn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was loved immensely and will be missed by all that knew him.
In lieu of flowers, it was Doug's wish that donations be made to charities. Thank you.
