Douglas Paul Parent August 31, 1976 - March 10, 2012 Douglas Paul Parent, 35, of Santa Maria California, went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2012. He was born on August 31, 1976 in Bakersfield, California, the first born child of Randy and Janice Parent. Doug attended Laurelglen Bible Church from preschool through high school. It was at LBC during his participation in the AWANA program that Doug accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He participated in many church activities throughout the years including a mission trip to Northern Ireland. Doug grew up enjoying many sports. He played little league baseball, rollerskating, football and golf. But the sport Doug loved best was bowling and he spent many hours at the bowling alley with his grandfather. Doug was in the first graduating class of Stockdale High School where he played in the marching band and varsity football. He had many jobs after graduating. It was during his employment in the oil fields that he got his Class A license and became a truck driver. He drove in both California and Arizona where he lived for 2 years. Upon returning to Bakersfield Doug met the love of his life, Julianna Zinn. They were married on December 27, 2008. Pursuing their dream of living at the beach, Doug and his family relocated to Nipomo California. In 2011 Doug began working for DanDee Trucking. Doug is survived by his wife Julianna, their son Tyler Anthony and step chlidren Haley and Ethan Zinn; his parents Randy and Janice Parent of Bakersfield, CA; his sister and brother-in-law Faith and Joseph Hampton and their children Bethanie, Jesse and Wyatt of Safford, AZ; his grandparents Bud and Margaret Hannaman of Bakersfield, CA; his grandfather Doug Parent of Oklahoma; and many, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service and reception will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 1:00pm at the New Life Community Church, 990 James Way, Pismo Beach, California. A memorial fund in Doug's name has been set up through Wells Fargo Bank to benefit his wife and chlidren. www.bakersfield.com/obits
