Edith Carol Sumlin September 03, 1955 - October 21, 2012 Edith Carol Sumlin was born September 3, 1955 in Greenville, Texas to parents Mary and the late Napoleon Daniels. Edith, known as Carol to most of her family, grew up in Dallas, Texas where she attended elementary and junior high schools. She enjoyed music and the arts, playing the flute and performing in the marching band, and participating in the oratorical arts programs at her schools. She graduated from Los Angeles High School, and pursued a higher education degree at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) earning a degree in Biological Sciences and a Masters degree in Education from National University. Her dream was to become an educator. Upon receiving her teaching credentials, she began to teach Elementary through high school with the Los Angeles Unified School District, and later with the Bakersfield School District. Edith met her beloved husband, Patrick Sumlin, through a mutual friend. They fell in love and were married on February 13, 1988 in Los Angeles, California. On August 16, 1993, they were blessed with the birth of their son, Yannick Sumlin. Edith, Patrick and Yannick moved to Patrick's hometown of Bakersfield, California in the Spring of 2007. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband Patrick Sumlin and a proud and loving parent to their son Yannick Sumlin. Edith C. Sumlin passed away after an extended illness, on Sunday, October21, 2012. She is survived by her husband Patrick Sumlin, son Yannick Sumlin, mother Mary Daniels, Sisters Mary Thomas, Gwendolyn Clayton, Pamela Daniels, and Brother Marcus Daniels.
