Eleanor Sanford Goe
March 15, 1920 - November 18, 2018

Eleanor was born on March 15, 1920 in Tulare to Charles and Edith Premo. She grew up in Porterville graduating from Porterville High School in 1938. After the family moved to Bakersfield she attended Bakersfield College. Her first job was with the campaign of Earl Warren for Governor. She then went to work for the Bakersfield Californian in the printing department proof reading the paper. During World War II she worked for KERN Radio as the Program Scheduling Coordinator. Through a mutual friend she was introduced to her future husband, Edmund Goe, whom she married in 1949. After her children were older she worked part time assisting her father in his insurance agency, Charles O. Premo Insurance. She then joined her husband in running the family business, Goe's Gifts and Arts, until her husband's death in 1977. In later life she devoted herself to loving and caring for many rescued cats and dogs and one tortoise, Tut.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela Goe of Bakersfield, son Oliver Goe of Helena, Montana and his wife, Christina; granddaughters Rebecca Goe of Missoula, Montana and her husband Eric Midtlyng, Carrie Goe Nettleton and her husband Tyler Nettleton of Billings, Montana, and Emily Goe of Seattle, Washington; and her great grand children Anders, Clara, and Linnea.

The family will be gathering for a private memorial service. Eleanor is interred at Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the wonderful caregivers at The Rehabilitation Center of Bakersfield for the care and compassion shown to Mom in the last years of her life.
