Elisabeth Fath Ladd

01/05/1931 - 02/17/2015 Obituary
Elisabeth Fäth Ladd, born on January 5, 1931 in Furth, Germany to Adam and Elisabeth Fäth, passed away in Bakersfield, California on February 17, 2015 at the age of 84. Elisabeth lived through WWII and arrived in the U.S. with her GI husband, Vernon, in 1956.
She raised three children and worked a variety of jobs, including farm labor, running a small diner, and working in a school cafeteria. Later in life, she volunteered her time with the Volunteer Bureau in Fresno, being named its Volunteer of the Year in 1999. After having surgery for Pancreatic Cancer in 2009, Mom opted out of chemotherapy and moved to Bakersfield where she was on hospice care but miraculously recovered; God healing her from the cancer that remained. Elisabeth spent the next 5 1/2 years in Bakersfield living healthy, happy and secure - helping in the house, gardening, cooking meals and telling stories from her youth.
She loved talking about her Savior, "Praise you Jesus," she would say, during both difficult and good times. She looked forward to visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and it is this family she leaves; daughters Sherry Long (Dan), and Ann Barrios (Henry), and son Vernon (Terry); grandchildren Cory Garrett, April Stumpff (Josh), Julie Barrios, Alyse Braaten (Chris), Matthew Barrios, David Esquivel (Carol), Zane Ladd, and Carlie Ladd; great-grandchildren Johnathan Stumpff, Story and Penny Braaten, and Olivia Esquivel. Special friend and caregiver Charlene Stevens remained with Mom until the end. Elisabeth joins her husband Vernon, her parents, and her seven brothers and one sister in Heaven. She is at peace.
At mom's request, a private service in Bakersfield is planned, and she asked that family and friends consider donating to Hoffmann Hospice, Bakersfield.
