Elnora Crook Obituary
Elnora Crook, 91, was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, January 20th. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Dowling and husband James "Bud", her son Roy Crook Jr. and wife Claudia, her daughter Carol Eutizzi and husband Nick, and her daughter Rhonda Samarin and husband Harry. Elnora is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Elnora was born on September 23, 1923 in Porum, Oklahoma. She was married to Roy S. Crook for almost 73 years until his death in September of 2013. While Roy served over three years in World War II, Elnora remained in Oklahoma and continued raising their two oldest children. Shortly after the conclusion of the war, the family moved to California. Elnora took great pride in raising her children, and they always expressed gratitude for the loving home that she provided.
Elnora was a life-long servant of God. She and Roy were members of Bethel Temple in East Bakersfield and later First Assembly of God and Westside Family Fellowship in Wasco. For the last seven years, she has resided at Glenwood Gardens in Bakersfield, CA.
Many memories of Elnora will endure for the Crook Family. She was a wonderful cook and many of her famous recipes live on in the family today. Elnora loved to crochet , and she shared many of her beautiful afghan blankets with family and friends. All of the children and grandchildren spent many summers at the Crook vacation home and property in Springfield, Oregon. There, fishing, rafting on the McKenzie River, and eating Elnora's home cooked meals were beloved family traditions.
"Grannie", as she was called by her family, was a best friend and confidant to them. She loved to make and receive phone calls from her family and friends. All were never too far from her prayers. Her family will forever be grateful for the love and care she provided them over the years.
The Crook family would like to thank all of those that have offered their love and support during this time of loss. A funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial on Thursday, January 22nd at 10am. All friends and family are invited to a reception following the service.
