Emma Sipe Obituary

Emma Lee Sipe peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at age 85 in San Luis Obispo, CA with her family surrounding her in love. Emma was born in 1930 at Shawnee Oklahoma the third of nine children to Elmer and Ethel Wyatt. In 1935 the family moved to Bakersfield, CA where she met and married Donald Glen Sipe (Glen) in 1948. Glen & Emma enjoyed 67 years of marriage. Together they raised 4 children Donald Sipe, Jr., Gregory Sipe, Debra Wells and Cheryl McCollum.

Emma was one of the first female deputies for Kern County Sheriffs Department. Emma retired in 1980 and enjoyed many years of retirement with her husband. In 2008 Glen and Emma moved to San Luis Obispo, CA.

Emma was the kind of person we all aspire to be like. With strong convictions, a kind and giving heart, she mentored family and friends to believe in themselves and to strive to full potential. Emma loved family, music, camping and fishing. She will be missed greatly. We will do our best to keep her light shining and continue to show the kindness and love that Emma freely shared.

Emma is survived by her children (listed above) and their spouses, Vikki Sipe, Sari Gilfenbain, & Craig McCollum along with siblings, Larry Wyatt, Esther Gooding & Ethelene Graham as well as 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grand children and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wilshire Hospice of San Luis Obispo.
